This handsome piece has an elegant aesthetic, with a charming combination of modern geometric patterns, classic Victorian flourishes, and raised beading combining to create this lavishly decorated dish. What makes this dish supremely versatile lies just on top of the lid: a handle that twists off, allowing the dish to transition from a covered single dish to two open serving dishes.
With its romantic inscription, the dish also carries hints of a fascinating provenance: the long-shuttered Albert Mills carpet factory in Glasgow, Scotland produced exquisite carpets used in two British coronations, a carpet for the White House, as well as carpets for luxury liners. They also produced army blankets during World War I.
Certainly a much loved piece for Miss Elliot, this clever, gleaming silverplate serving dish will be a much loved addition to your collection, adding its polished presence at your next gathering.
